ALOE VERA

Aloe vera is a short-stemmed succulent plant which originates from the Arabian Peninsula but grows wild in tropical climates around the world and is cultivated for agricultural and medicinal uses. The plants have long, thick, erect leaves and form a dense rosette. The leaves contain a translucent gel that is known for its magical properties. This translucent gel is made up of around 96% water, some organic and inorganic compounds, a type of protein which contains 18 of the 20 amino acids found in the body and Vitamin A, B, C and E. It also contains vitamin B12, folic acid, and choline.

Aloe Vera has gained worldwide fame for its numerous and varied benefits and is found in many consumer products including beverages, skin lotion, cosmetics, or ointments for minor burns and sunburns.

Today, Aloe Vera is a household name and is often called the wonder plant.

Aloe vera gel and skin are edible and can be eaten. It is important to wash the skin thoroughly to remove all traces of latex, which has an unpleasant bitter taste and may cause harmful side effects. It is safer to consume the gel rather than the skin.
